Bennett's wallaby
The largest wallaby established in New Zealand, found in South Canterbury and spreading. Wallabies compete with stock for pasture and damage regenerating native bush, and are the target of a national control programme.

Rough country, scrub and gully systems, most active around dawn and dusk. Because they are under an active containment programme, landowners are often keen to see numbers reduced.
